The Compass Brewery are running a home brewing competition!
Mattias Sjöberg, a member of the group and owner and founder of the Compass Brewery brewing roots started in home brewing, back in his native Sweden. After coming to the UK he studied brewing at the Herriot Watt and his brewing career took him to companies like Muntons and then onto Scottish & Newcastle (In Reading, neither Scottish or in Newcastle). With the closure of the plant in Reading the opportunity arose to start his own brewery, Compass, bringing a few different beers to the market.
So 2013 marks 50 years since Reginald Maudsley changed the tax laws to in essence legalise home brewing, and to celebrate this momentous anniversary Compass are giving a homebrewer the opportunity to have their beer brewed by Compass and feature at a beer festival. You too could have people paying to drink your beer!
